The first settlers arrived in Nelson during 1842. With astounding optimism they endeavoured to reproduce the architecture and culture they knew and named the places after their homeland heroes. Beautiful Nelson is now my hometown and as I walk around the streets I admire these grand old architectural beauties in a variety of current conditions but all full of character. The street here next to the Cathedral is aptly named Trafalgar of course. The physical landscape is ever present with mountain ranges or sea as nature’s backdrop.
